Residents for Renewal and a Rolling Programme of Flourising Neighbourhoods

Turning Balsall Heath round has taken many years and a big effort by very many people. And, we have had to make a fuss and draw attention to the new Balsall Heath to re-package and market our bright, new, image of success.

Others, in other neighbourhoods, have noticed and have visited us to ask: “How did you do that? Can we follow suit? Can you show us what to do?”

So, experienced residents from Balsall Heath who have ‘been there and done that and got the T shirt’ have started to help others both in Birmingham and beyond. They have called themselves R4R (Residents for Renewal) and are funded by the Home Office to spread the word.

They have teamed up with others in Liverpool, Bradford, Sheffield, Leicester and elsewhere as regional centres of excellence. Here, in Birmingham, they have twinned with Castle Vale which has made similar progress. Together, these two neighbourhoods are starting a Birmingham wide Rolling Programme of Renewal.
