The D.I.Y Neighbourhood Neighbourhood Renewal Tool Kit

The Neighbourhood Renewal DIY Tool Kit was prepared a couple of years ago for R4R purposes. Guide residents can travel to a failing neighbourhood with this Box file of goodies and explain to an Active Citizen there how to use the tools it contains, then leave it with them.

The tools include all kinds of papers, plans and books which will be of use to different residents, help them to build their capacity, make friends with statutory partners, develop a neighbourhood plan etc etc.

Once a guided neighbourhood has learned how to use the Tool Kit, they can stay in phone touch with the guide R4R resident and cut down on the need for exchange visits. However, nothing can quite replace a visit from or to a guide neighbourhood. It inspires belief and a ‘can do’ mentality. So, the Tool Kit is best used in tandem with visits and the personal touch.
